SUMBA - MANGKUDU

Magical Sumba, there are many reasons (waves of course but also superb fishing, snorkelling, beautiful bays, waterfalls) why we dedicate two months surfing and exploring this island.

From Waikelo the nearest well known wave is at Pero, one of the most powerful lefthanders around on its day.  Producing some of the best barrels Indonesia has to offer.  From Waingapu there is 5-Os which has a number of excellent waves in a small region.

After that we follow a long stretch of coast as yet untouched by civilisation.  It's a coastline of wild jungle and majestic mountans, beautiful bays and sandy beaches.  One of these bays may be known to you as Millers.  A world-class righthander ... the only complaint from our guests is that the wave is just so long that the paddle back out is tiring.  Luckily we have a highspeed zodiac to take you back to the lineup!

And of course there is Mangkudu.  A quintessential desert island with a swell magnet of a wave.

But the real reason to visit Sumba is to enjoy the numerous unknown locations.  Totally remote, these are waves in secluded bays and dramatic headlands that only a boat can take you to.

Sumba is a wonderful, magical place ... ... and always has the potential for discovering a new spot!
